My Bridal Look: Hair, Makeup, & Accessories!

September is an exciting month- it marks one year since becoming engaged to my now husband (he popped the question on my birthday!) and just over 6 months of newly-wedded bliss.

We're also getting closer & closer to baby boy's arrival in December- so it's been a whirlwind of a year, you guys!  And I am so, so thankful.

To throw it back & reflect on one of the happiest days of our lives, I thought I would do a recap that I have been promising for awhile now:  my bridal look!

I've got (lots of) pictures to share, plus all the details from hair to makeup to accessories.

As many of you know, I did my own hair & makeup, and I even did my mom's makeup too!  It felt more relaxing to me that way- I'm pretty shy and like to do things myself.  I felt like hiring someone would just add to my day-of nerves, so I kept it simple.

I did a trial run on my makeup the weekend before- and that was it!  I also stuck to my every day look, because I wanted to look & feel like myself- just at my best.

I amped things up a bit with false lashes and a few products to help my makeup last all day, but the overall look I went for was "me but a bit more glam", with primarily safer products.  I was happy with how it turned out, how it lasted through the night, and to have a calm, peaceful morning getting ready before a huge day!

ACCESSORIES

If you followed me on Instagram before the wedding in March, you probably saw the great shoe shopping haul I showed!  I ended up buying several pairs off of NordstromRack.com and chose after trying them on.

I went for a Badgley Mischka pair that was super comfortable but still a little "glam" with sheer mesh panels, satin, and rhinestones.  You couldn't see much of these under my dress- other than the pointed toe- but I loved them so much, and was able to keep 'em on all night long with no problem!

I felt a little overwhelmed when it came to choosing jewelry.  I love my everyday dainty gold pieces from Miranda Frye, and knew I wanted to go with them- but couldn't choose what to wear with hair down, and a low-cut, low-back dress.

I ended up seeking professional help by messaging my girls with Miranda Frye directly and sending them pictures of the rest of my look.  I have been a longtime fan of their semi-fine jewelry, and was so excited when they set me up with a discount code to share with you all last year.

The code is JESSIE at checkout to save 10% on your entire order plus get free U.S. shipping.  ALL of my jewelry is from there, so it only made sense to go with their pieces for my wedding day!

They helped me choose the Hailey necklace (the gorgeous glimmering Y-chain that catches the light perfectly).  It was lightweight, and went with the whole look perfectly!  And I still wear it often day-to-day.

For a bracelet, they helped me choose the gorgeous "Chloe" which is a hammered chain that catches the light beautifully!  My mom wore the same one, which was super special.

Besides my engagement ring & wedding band, I also wore two super dainty rings on my right hand- one on my ring finger, one on my pinky.  They're my usual rings I wear every day:  a thin gold band from the Presley stacking rings, and the Hudson midi ring worn on my pinky.

HAIR

I wanted my hair to go with the whole vibe of our wedding, if that makes sense-  casual yet elegant and a little glam.  To match our rustic-yet-elegant dinner party setting.  I also wanted to look like myself, just a little more polished.

I used my usual shampoo & conditioner to prep my hair the day before, then blew it dry with THIS hair dryer and a large round brush.

On the day of, I straightened any frizzy pieces, then curled the rest with my interchangeable iron- using THIS size barrel.

To set the curls, I used this hair spray by Alterna, with a stronger hold version around the front of my face.

One last accessory that gave me so much peace in my heart on such a special day- this bouquet charm that held a picture of my favorite lady in the world:  my grandma!  It was small & understated and I'm sure no one noticed, but I sure did.  And my bouquet stayed with me all night long, so it was perfect.

My favorite part about my whole "bridal look" was that I looked & felt like the best version of me, and I didn't have to worry about touch-ups throughout the night, other than a swipe of lip gloss or two.

All the hours of our special day were spent soaking up moments with each other & our families- and it was exactly what we hoped it would be!
