Friday Five: Beauty Products I'm Loving

  1. MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural (Medium Plus):  This powder is perfect for the spring and summer!  I use it on its own for a light, natural-looking foundation.  I also use it as a setting powder & dust it over my liquid foundation if I'm wanting a fuller coverage with a more airbrushed look.

Deli Snack Wrap

Before Paleo, one of my go-to lunches at home was a wrap.  I would use a tortilla (probably "whole grain"), and fill it up with meat, spinach, avocado, and low-fat cheese.  It always hit the spot, but was not the best option for my health- for many reasons

I have since created a replacement that ticks all of the boxes: quick, delicious, and Paleo.

This is one of my favorite quick & easy meals.  Perfect for a quick snack or lunch with no cooking necessary.  Just grab a couple slices of your favorite deli meat (doesn't have to be ham), fill with some tasty ingredients, roll it all up, & eat!

No flavor is lost here, I promise.  The avocado gives you a dose of healthy fats while helping it all stick together and adding a little creamy texture.  The spinach will give you your green fix, and the bacon.... well, it's bacon.  No further explanation needed ;)  I use the fully cooked bacon from Trader Joe's, and pop it in the microwave for a few seconds to crisp it up.

You've got to give this one a try- it's too easy.  Let me know if you do, & if you have any other good "filling" ideas!

100K & My Very First Giveaway!

Hi Everyone!

Something exciting happened last night... My blog reached over 100,000 views!  Now, that may not seem life-changing to some of you, but to me- it's HUGE.

This blog has been such a fun outlet for me.  I have loved the chance to take something that makes me excited (i.e., food) and share it with countless people- many of which I have never met.  It's weird to think that so many people have found my blog, made my recipes, shared on Pinterest... and I had thought my blog would never go beyond my mom and my boyfriend! ;)

It's so exciting to me that there are all these people out there- all over the world- who share the same passions as I do.  Because of you guys, I have been blessed with a "happy place", where I can escape from all the craziness of everyday life and be excited about simple things:  health, beauty, food, and sharing :)

Sweet Potato Protein Cookies

I don't know about you, but I am always looking for ways to get some extra protein in my diet.  While you can always go for deli meat, jerky, or a hard boiled egg- I find that cookies make snack & mealtime just a bit better ;)

Whey protein powder has always been a go-to protein source for me, but it has also been known to give me an upset stomach.  So, I have been on the hunt for a good snack for between meals or post-workout that would give me that protein fill without any tummy discomfort.

These cookies are my 100% Paleo solution.

Friday Five: Packaged Paleo Snacks

This is the first of a new series I want to start here on my blog.... called "Friday Five".  Every Friday (hopefully) I will do a post of 5 things covering a range of topics.  They could be 5 tips, 5 favorites, 5 beauty items, 5 uses, 5 reasons, etc. on anything you guys would like to read about!

I have a lot of ideas as far as where I want to take this blog series, but I would LOVE to get some feedback from you all regarding what you would like to see.  Maybe 5 reasons not to eat legumes?  Five beauty uses for coconut oil?  Whatever you guys would like to see, let me know either in the comments below, or on Facebook or Instagram, and I will get right on it :)

Today I wanted to share five Paleo-friendly snacks that are quick, easy, and great for on-the-go since they are pre-packaged and ready to eat.  Here they are!

Creamy Citrus Almond Dressing

One of the little things I love about spring break: not eating every meal out of a tupperware.  Now, don't get me wrong-- I love and appreciate my healthy to-go meals that I prep & take around in my favorite lunch box.  However, sometimes there is nothing better than eating a leisurely lunch that was freshly prepared at home.

Strawberry Lemon Mint Detox Water

Today I have a quick, simple recipe for you that your body (and skin!) will thank you for.  This water is full of health benefits to cleanse & soothe your system, while keeping you hydrated & refreshed.

As the weather starts to get a little warmer, I find myself mixing up these drinks more often.  You can mix up a whole pitcher to chill in the fridge, or stir up a single serving when you're craving something light and sweet.  This is just one fruit combination I love, but feel free to get creative with whatever you have on hand!

*Tip: Always cut up your fruit before putting it in water.
More surface area exposed= more flavor!

Strawberries: high in antioxidants & anti-inflammatory nutrients
Lemon: cleansing & hydrating to the system
Mint: aids digestion & soothes nausea

Classic Paleo Meatloaf

Meatloaf is the star of one of my most vivid memories from the first grade.  The class was having some sort of circle/sharing time, where everyone sat criss-cross-applesauce on the ground while one chosen student was perched up on a stool front and center, next to the teacher, to "present to the class".

On this particular day, we were talking about our favorites.  I was very shy in the first grade (and pretty much every grade), and probably not so jazzed about being the center of attention in front of the entire class.  So, when I was asked about my favorite food, and quietly replied "...meatloaf." -- I must have been horrified by the "Ewwww!" I heard shouted out in unison by all of my friends.

Banana Blueberry Superfood Bowl

Today I have a quick & easy recipe for you guys, that only takes about a minute to throw together!  This bowl of nutrients is my go-to breakfast when I want a clean & healthy start to my day (just serve with an egg, sausage, or bacon for a little extra protein!)

It's also the perfect dessert option, since the frozen fruit mimics the texture & sweetness of ice cream!  I love the sweet, creamy flavor of the banana mixed with the tart blueberries.  The chia seeds add a great little crunch, and the coconut adds yet another dimension of flavor!

The texture of this bowl depends on how long you heat it.  I usually stick to around 30 seconds to keep some of the frosty texture- almost like frozen yogurt.  I've also heated this for around 1 minute & made more of a warm pudding-like dessert when it's cold outside.  Either way, this little concoction is SO tasty & fresh, and super satisfying.

Cauliflower Pizza Crust | PALEO, Keto, Whole30

I have been perfecting my cauliflower pizza crust for a long time now.  So many of my favorite recipes have been on-the-fly, lucky, thrown together ideas that turned out perfect the first time...  This one, however, was not so easy.

There are so many "healthy" pizza crust recipes out there on the internet~ but I've never been able to find the one that ticks all of the boxes.  They're either too soggy, too bland, or packed with shredded cheese (or other non-Paleo ingredients).  I love the idea of a veggie crust for pizza, so I kept on my mission to come up with my own recipe.  I couldn't be happier with it, and am super excited to finally share!
