Holiday Gift Guide 2014

Something new for the just Jessie B blog... a holiday gift guide!

I compiled a list of gifts that I thought some of my loved ones would enjoy... and hopefully yours would too.  :)  It's organized by different "types" of people you might be shopping for, with a few of my recommendations for each.

I hope you find my guide helpful, and that you get a few new ideas to add to your shopping list this year!

The Athlete

You can never have enough fresh workout clothes, especially when they're from a top-quality brand that will last you through many sweat sessions.  Hylete (great men's shorts) and Nike (I love their women's leggings) are my favorite sites to shop on, but I've heard good things about Reebok's CrossFit apparel as well.

Kettlebells and AbMats are great gifts that people of any fitness level can use.  The kettlebells from Rogue Fitness (RogueFitness.com) are worth their higher price point; and the AbMat is a great way to save your tailbone during sit-ups (check Rogue or Amazon.com).

The Beauty Lover

Part of being a beauty lover is the insatiable desire for trying out new products.  Treat your mom, sister, or friend to a new hair product.  I like the Dry Bar line that's now carried at Sephora.com (their Triple Sec is a great volumizer/dry shampoo that smells like a perfume).

Hair tools are a great gift to give if you're looking to buy a higher-priced gift.  A new hair dryer is always a great idea, and round brushes & velcro rollers can be fun to try!

Little luxuries, like the Dior Creme de Rose lip balm, are also great to give at the holidays.  The scent & texture is worth the high price tag- especially as a special gift!

Palettes are another great way to go for an awesome value.  I love neutral palettes with pops of color, like the Lorac Pro palette and the Urban Decay Naked palettes.  Sephora has plenty of gift sets to choose from too~ so be sure to check out their website for everything from skincare to mascara samplers at various price points.

The Foodie

Whether you're shopping for a Paleo-eater or not, why not make your gift Paleo friendly?!  I love the idea of a gift basket full of Paleo snacks & treats to show your friends & family that Paleo food can be fun & tasty!  Try Steve's Paleo Goods (available on their site, or check your nearest Whole Foods Market) for a range of prepackaged snacks, jarred sauces, jerkies, & more.

Speaking of Whole Foods, it's a magical place!  I think a gift card would be a great way to support your loved one's foodie habits by allowing them to pick up some new items of their choice.  Visit their site (wholefoodsmarket.com/GiftCards) to select & customize a physical or online gift card (that can even be sent straight to their e-mail!)

The Veggetti has become a fast favorite of mine for making awesome veggie noodles.  Perfect for Paleo-friendly meals.  You can find it at Bed, Bath & Beyond or at Amazon.com

Cookbooks are the gift that keeps on giving... check out "Against All Grain" from Danielle Walker, "Practical Paleo" from Diane Sanfilippo, or "The Paleo Approach" from Sarah Ballantyne.  For another Paleo-friendly treat book (lots of breads/crusts/pastries) check out the new one from Brittany Angell: "Every Last Crumb:  Paleo bread & beyond".

Last but not least... a new grill pan!  Or any non-stick pan for that matter.  Calphalon brand is my favorite  :)  Perfect for grilling up quality meats, and something they can use every day.

The Minimalist

I think simple and/or consumable gifts are best for the minimalistic, non-clutter friends in your life.  I love coffee samplers as a gift... like a K-cup variety pack with new flavors to try.  Pair it with a simple monogram mug, or a travel mug if they're always on the road.

Hand lotions are a necessity at this time of year~ so treat them to a higher-end one they may not have tried.  The L'Occitane Lavande lavender hand cream is my favorite.  It's a light gel-like consistency with a scent that works for both men & women.

Another winter season must-have is a cozy blanket.  Check out the soft & neutral plaid ones from Pottery Barn or Crate & Barrel.  You can even get them monogrammed if you'd like!

My final recommendation... movie tickets!  Write down a few movies coming out soon that you know they'd like, and tuck it in their card.  Date night's on you  :)
